penny in a castle

A digital chapbook.

Cross town bus

Metallic machine caterpillars

Slithering and slinking along silent streets

Punctually grooving paths clearly treaded

Eyes lit up, shining on neighbourhood houses

Opening  jaws wide to accept paying victims

Swallowing them in its maw

Spitting them out at their destination

Roaring by where children stand

Deafened and bemused

In the wake of smoky exhaust

Waving to those caught inside

Its beastly glass and iron belly
